Cleaning and Inspections
What is creosote?
Creosote is the dark, sticky, flaky, or hardened residue that can build up inside a chimney when wood burns. When the chimney gets hot enough, creosote can ignite burning at 1700+ degrees, far beyond regular operating temperature. Dirty chimneys, restricted airflow, unseasoned wood, and cooler chimney temperatures all increase creosote buildup.
Annual cleanings and inspections are imperative to access and reduce creosote build-up and ensure a safe chimney.
Level 1: $225
Cleaning plus a lower cost annual inspection for chimneys that have passed a level 2 prior.
33 main components are checked in readily visible areas. This includes structural integrity assessments, clearance to combustibles, flue condition, damper operation, safety evaluation and performance assessment.
Level 2: $279
Cleaning plus an in-depth inspection of the chimney construction and design for initial inspections, structural changes and change of ownership.
66 main components are assessed using specialized equipment. This includes remote videoing the flue, inspection of the structures surrounding the chimney under house, in the attic and on the roof to assess proper fireplace construction and design. Performed on initial inspection, change of ownership, seismic/damaging events, pertinent remodels or other changes.
